5th Annual JPI
Wow, has it been five years already? Returning for its 5th straight year, JPI is taking a huge change of direction. It’s been a fun and exciting run of throwing a massive pre-season Pro Shred event but its time for a change. While it’s definitely cool to watch some of the best Pros in the Biz Huck for Bucks on your home turf to fuel your stoke for the season to come, wouldn’t you rather be riding yourself? Yeah, that’s what we thought so this year we’re switching the “P” in JPI from PRO to PUBLIC!
Last year’s expanded Public Arena was a huge success and that’s the total focus for the upcoming JPI5. We want you, our loyal dedicated park shredders to feel the stoke first hand this preseason and get you guys/gals on the snow as early as possible and maybe even some extra cash in your pocket at the same time. The $2k we used to give out to the Pros for best tricks, well that’s up for grabs in the public arena. Park staff will be looking to be impressed and will hand out cash, $20-$100 a pop, on the spot! Also, tons of swag from our park sponsors will be up for grabs as well. No bibs, no start lists…basically no rules other than your get to shred for a few hours weeks before the season begins and we got a ton of stuff to give out.
But wait….there’s more! Get your batteries charged and polish up on those editing skills. Totally new this year is the Team Video Challenge. 15 teams will get private time in the arena to shot a 3-5min edit for a chance at the $2k winner take all cash prize, thanks to Fuel TV. Teams will have 36hrs after the riding stops to post their finished video to their team page on our website. Also up for grabs will be $500 for most viewed video. Additional winning categories and prizes will be announced Oct 1 when online team registration begins. Winners will be announced 10 days after the event. All of the Teams and Best Trick winners along with friends and family are invited back up to Boreal for the grand reveal and thank you party upstairs in our Bar.
So, when is all this going to go down? Well, that is up to mother nature. Each of the last 3 years we have been able to make snow the first week of October in preparation for JPI. We want to give you guys/gals the best and biggest possible venue as early as possible. So with that said the event will take place the first SAT/SUN after we make enough snow. So keep you eyes on our webcam for snow making activity, check this blog and definitely sign up for TXT Message Alerts. We will TXT every bit of info about snow making and event status we get as soon as we get it so you wont miss out.

10/6/09 UPDATE
————————————————————
Boreal’s snow making efforts are about to break yet another record. Boreal is scheduled to turn on the Castle Peak Quad lift for the earliest season opener in the resorts history this Saturday, October 10th (possibly sooner should snow making crank-out more snow tonight).
To celebrate Boreal’s record breaking early opening, the 5th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational Event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th. This year’s event has been cooked up to feature all shredders willing to throw down great tricks for cash. Boreal is primed with $2,000 cash to be handed out on both Saturday and Sunday. Venue for best trick cash is the public park, open to all and built to Boreal terrain park perfection. Judges will include Robbie Sell from FUEL TV and the Boreal park crew. Wads of $20’s will be dished out from 12noon to 4pm on both days.
This year’s JPI.5 event also includes a Team Video Challenge. Registration is sold out, but come out and watch the private video session on Saturday from 5pm – 9pm. An additional $2,000 will be awarded the team with the best video, and $500 cash to the most viewed video.
Boreal’s lift will operate from 9am to 4pm. Lift tickets for ages 5-12 will be $15, ages 13 and up $30. Park will include 6-10 features. Season pass holders welcome, or buy a pass on-site at Boreal’s Last Chance sale which ends October 31st.
Resort services will be available including food, beverages, rentals, limited availability on lessons and retail. Gated access to the mountain, valid lift tickets and passes permitted in the gated area only. Poaching is not cool, nor tolerated. Educate yourself on helmet use. Helmets recommended. Lift tickets subject to sell out.
Boreal’s early season operation is weekends only (Fri/Sat/Sun) until further notice, or as conditions permit. Stay tuned for details

Sooo Excited! this is gonna be so much fun!
is it 50 bucks per team? or per person
does the 4 members per team have to include the filmer? like could you have 4 riders and one designated filmer? or is it 4 total?
if there is enough snow to make a jump I might just cry with excitement
Can’t Wait!!!
$50 per team
You can fill up your team any way you like as long as it is 2 to 4 people. We are trying to keep this as simple as possible in regards to the rules.
Alright sweet!! any idea when the sign ups will open? I know its supposed to be on the 1st, but I just really don’t want to miss signing up
It wont be any earlier than the first…what time on the first is still up in the air. I’ve come up with an online registration program through paypal and it will only except the first 15 paid entries then bump everyone else to sign up for a waiting list. When the press release comes out you’ll get all the finer details…we still have some things to work on before 10/1 rolls around.
Sounds really sick. ill be waiting on the first then to sign up!
If we have signed up for text alerts, will we be notified by text when the sign ups open?
Sign will open at 12pm on 10/1. Everyone signed up for TXT ALerts will get a friendly reminder that morning
This just in….
We will be awarding the standout rider in the team comp with two round trip anywhere/anytime tickets from Southwest Airlines!
i am still unclear on the rider/ filmer situation. does the team include the filmer and the editor. or does the “team” mean # of riders in the film.
The team of 2-4 people includes everyone. Some teams may designate a filmer/edit, other teams may share all the roles…its totally open in that respect to allow the most people the opportunity to be involved and as not to stifle the creativity. It does not matter as long its 2 – 4 people. More detail will be posted on 10/1 before the online registration goes live at 12pm
ok..so this event is going to be the 10th and 11th right? and when will we know the date is 4sure??
WE will not set a date until we make snow. The idea of this is to do it as early as possible and as good as possible. So setting an early date when we are at the mersey of mother nature would serve no purpose. The weather looks good for possible snow making the next few nights and again next week. We will post info regarding the dates as soon as we know. Hang in there……
ok..got you…but your target is the weekend of the 10 and 11th right?? also…um will the lodge and lockers and all that be open when the jpi is or what?……and p.s. i definatly agree with the other guy…yes, you guys should try to do multiple flat boxes
s box please
omg!!! Nice news story on kcra 3!!! the earliest day boreal have ever oppened was oct. 11th..but with jpi this year on the weekend..it would be the 10th!!!!!! cmon guys….break your record
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the rumors around have been that boreal is definatly opening on the 10th for jpi..(because they are using the snowmakers tonight)!!!!!!
we definitely DO NOT have a date set yet. we are definitely making snow tonight and tomorrow. we just have to let it play out and see what piles up on the ground before we make any further announcements.
so that we wont miss out on the fifteen spots, what information will u need to regester, just names of riders in your crew, or like adresses, phone number etc?
ok…well i heard that theres going to be a press release tommarow of the date?? (most likey the 10 and 11th)????? and maybe earlier if it stays cold???lol hopefully……come on snow….:P
yeah id also looove to know what info we will need to sign up, and what website to do it on. a link would be killer…thanks
when will the dates be announced? I don’t want to register a team and then the dates ending up being during a time i cannot come.
A final press release is going out today about new sponsors and all the last minute details you guys need to know. This website will be updated this afternoon as well. THERE WILL BE NO DATE ANNOUNCED IN THIS PRESS RELEASE!
Everything you guys need to know will be posted on this website later today.
Registration will be on this website. YOU WILL NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT FOR REGISTRATION.
more to come later today…….
um..its like 5:30…is the video just it or are you guys putting more info up???? and all of us snowboarders…i think we all agree that it would probably be nice to have a date before we register and…maybe it would be nice to know a date of the event before its possibily a week before the event??? Um i hope you guys could pull it off for the weekend of the 10th and 11th because everybody is pretty much counting on that… thnx and keep the good job up on making the snow
AND EVEN THE NEWS GUY THIS MORNING SAID IF YOU GUYS DO YOUR JOB…THEN THE JPI COULD BE AS EARLY AS NEXT WEEKEND???…good luck
..i know you guys can do it easy…
Until the snow is on the ground we will not commit to a date. We want this as early and as rad as possible. I personally won’t settle for anything less than we put out last year…I WANT MORE! So putting out a date too early could possibly let a lot more people down than waiting until we know we will blow you guys away.
worrrd good thinking
I have been trying to register since 6:00 and all I get is message “error on page”. I have been trying on 2 different computers. What’s up?
dude this sucks i cant register it wont let me….
Do you have to be in the video contest to win the most viewed part?
hummm, we’ll have to think about that one.
I’ll just have to put you to work with the heli cam for the event!
that would be more than amazing if you still gave those of us who didn’t make the sign-up a chance at something like the most viewed award cause it sounds like a lot of people got screwed over!
There is still a lot up for grabs in the public arena.
-$2k in best tricks
-Custom Graphic Moment Skis for the standout Skier
-Custom Graphic Smokin’ Snowboard for the standout snowboarder
I do like the idea of the most viewed prize possibly being taken by a renegade team…its just that the public venue might get a little too crowded for a bunch of cameras in the mix. We’ll talk it over on our end and see what we come up with.
Ok everyone…I’m goimg to be away from a computer for a few days. So if you dont get an answer right away, or if you are a first time poster and your comment doesn’t go live, then that’s why. A lot of new members posted comments about the event. Every new member’s first post is held but then after that they all go live automatically.
sounds good, Thanks!
Yea I’m with steven.
update on dates or anything along those lines coming out tomorow??
yes, tomorrow morning announcements will be made
This is my snow dance…
