Boreal is diving deeper into the world of youth action sports with the opening of Woodward Tahoe, a youth action sports freeride and freeski instructional center and camp program. Woodward, long recognized as a leader in the progression of action sports will bring “The Woodward Experience” to Tahoe with a new facility that will attract riders and skiers of all abilities. The week-long filming session for the Team Video Challenge (TVC) ended on November 22nd. That’s when thirteen teams feverishly went to work editing their master pieces. Given 72 hours to complete the task, each team produced an edit with the hopes of taking home a piece of the $2,500 cash prize purse.
On Friday, December 3rd, Boreal hosted the TVC viewing party up on Donner Summit. All the videos were projected onto a massive screen and the public was given an opportunity to vote for their favorite. The public vote was 1/5 of the overall score. In the end it was the deciding factor, shaking up positions and revealing a winner by a one-point margin.
bHappy Films walked home with top-honors and $2,000 cash in their pockets for documenting the epic 5-mile journey from Truckee to Boreal. Team Gremlinz took the last minute lead in the most views category, earning $500 for their efforts. Awards were also handed out for Best Rider, Best Female and Best Skier in the form of a private photo/film session for the winning crew. Best Rider went to Niko Cioffi, Best Female went to Laurie Currier and Andy McDowell earned the Best Skier award.
After seeing TVC videos all over the web, GoPro® contacted Boreal offering to give a full factory sponsorship to the team winning “Best Production”. In the end Team Surface Skis will get fully-dialed thanks to GoPro®.
All the videos from the 2nd Annual TVC can be viewed on BorealTerrainPark.com. A big thanks goes out to all the filmers, editors and athletes that made this event possible.
