5th Annual JPI

Wow, has it been five years already? Returning for its 5th straight year, JPI is taking a huge change of direction. It’s been a fun and exciting run of throwing a massive pre-season Pro Shred event but its time for a change. While it’s definitely cool to watch some of the best Pros in the Biz Huck for Bucks on your home turf to fuel your stoke for the season to come, wouldn’t you rather be riding yourself? Yeah, that’s what we thought so this year we’re switching the “P” in JPI from PRO to PUBLIC!

Last year’s expanded Public Arena was a huge success and that’s the total focus for the upcoming JPI5. We want you, our loyal dedicated park shredders to feel the stoke first hand this preseason and get you guys/gals on the snow as early as possible and maybe even some extra cash in your pocket at the same time. The $2k we used to give out to the Pros for best tricks, well that’s up for grabs in the public arena. Park staff will be looking to be impressed and will hand out cash, $20-$100 a pop, on the spot! Also, tons of swag from our park sponsors will be up for grabs as well. No bibs, no start lists…basically no rules other than your get to shred for a few hours weeks before the season begins and we got a ton of stuff to give out.

But wait….there’s more! Get your batteries charged and polish up on those editing skills. Totally new this year is the Team Video Challenge. 15 teams will get private time in the arena to shot a 3-5min edit for a chance at the $2k winner take all cash prize, thanks to Fuel TV. Teams will have 36hrs after the riding stops to post their finished video to their team page on our website. Also up for grabs will be $500 for most viewed video. Additional winning categories and prizes will be announced Oct 1 when online team registration begins. Winners will be announced 10 days after the event. All of the Teams and Best Trick winners along with friends and family are invited back up to Boreal for the grand reveal and thank you party upstairs in our Bar.

So, when is all this going to go down? Well, that is up to mother nature. Each of the last 3 years we have been able to make snow the first week of October in preparation for JPI. We want to give you guys/gals the best and biggest possible venue as early as possible. So with that said the event will take place the first SAT/SUN after we make enough snow. So keep you eyes on our webcam for snow making activity, check this blog and definitely sign up for TXT Message Alerts. We will TXT every bit of info about snow making and event status we get as soon as we get it so you wont miss out.

10/6/09 UPDATE
————————————————————
Boreal’s snow making efforts are about to break yet another record. Boreal is scheduled to turn on the Castle Peak Quad lift for the earliest season opener in the resorts history this Saturday, October 10th (possibly sooner should snow making crank-out more snow tonight).

To celebrate Boreal’s record breaking early opening, the 5th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational Event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th. This year’s event has been cooked up to feature all shredders willing to throw down great tricks for cash. Boreal is primed with $2,000 cash to be handed out on both Saturday and Sunday. Venue for best trick cash is the public park, open to all and built to Boreal terrain park perfection. Judges will include Robbie Sell from FUEL TV and the Boreal park crew. Wads of $20’s will be dished out from 12noon to 4pm on both days.

This year’s JPI.5 event also includes a Team Video Challenge. Registration is sold out, but come out and watch the private video session on Saturday from 5pm – 9pm. An additional $2,000 will be awarded the team with the best video, and $500 cash to the most viewed video.

Boreal’s lift will operate from 9am to 4pm. Lift tickets for ages 5-12 will be $15, ages 13 and up $30. Park will include 6-10 features. Season pass holders welcome, or buy a pass on-site at Boreal’s Last Chance sale which ends October 31st.

Resort services will be available including food, beverages, rentals, limited availability on lessons and retail. Gated access to the mountain, valid lift tickets and passes permitted in the gated area only. Poaching is not cool, nor tolerated. Educate yourself on helmet use. Helmets recommended. Lift tickets subject to sell out.

Boreal’s early season operation is weekends only (Fri/Sat/Sun) until further notice, or as conditions permit. Stay tuned for details
