big jumps are back!
Sorry for the long delay and the bad camera phone pictures, but our biggest jumps will open tomorrow, 3/25. We finished as much shaping today as was possible until the snow got too sticky for cat work. Hollywood will put his touch on them tonight for their grand opening tomorrow. The double line is bigger than anything we've built off of Accelerator but not quite as big as what we used to build on 49ner in the CORE park. They should be fun lap-able jumps for those inclined(and capable!) for such things as hucking off pro size jumps. For those not yet up the task of these big jumps there are two lower entries into the jib and medium jumplines below, plus there will be the superpipe when it re-opens as another option to the XL jumps. The first jump is a true step down and the second is half table/half step down. Pipe may re-open tomorrow as well. So disregard to beat appearance in the photos because Jay was still cutting and I have some more work in there tomorrow am before it possibly re-opens. The pipe has taken a beating since the zaugg cat when down awhile ago and it hasn't had regular TLC like it usually would. It has taken some time to get the zaugg hooked up to a different cat and getting it working properly. Today we chainsawed the walls straight and did as much work as one can do before it turns into a total rebuild. Some more grade work tomorrow and some more cutting to the east wall and the pipe will be as good as new for the rest of the season..straight as an arrow and super smooth. We are going to be adding as much as we can to the park lines off Accelerator for the rest of the season for maximum park shredding after Dutchman closes on the 29th. We'll keep you posted on the additions as they come.-E

tales from the east side
The Killington Grand Prix has come to an end and my two week working vaca on the east coast is over. It has been alot of fun working with the Killington park crew to create the slopestyle course. It has been even more fun watching Boreal locals dominate the competition this weekend! TSST(tahoe select snowboard team) pretty much cleaned house. For those that don't know, Boreal is home turf for TSST as they train several days a week in our pipe and park. So it probably didn't hurt at all that I was here to inject a little Boreal flavor into the Killington venue..nothing like traveling to an away game but still having home court advantage! TSST riders Mary Sallah and Allison Carroll took 1st and 2nd in the home away from home slopestyle today! Yesterday in the pipe, Kelly Marren took 6th while on the mens side the one and only Goldie took 1st and Ross Baker just missed the podium in 4th. It was so rad to watch our local riders just kill at such a high level comp on the opposite side of the country. But as fun as it has been working here at Killington, which by the way is a PWDR resort same as Boreal,Bachelor,Park City, I can't wait to get home to good old Boreal and finish out the season. A big huge thanks goes out to the Killington park crew for all their help these last two weeks, especially the park manager Rosey(yeah I have an east coast twin!) and K's head builder Corey...you guys rock. Oh, one other thing..Killington's Burton Stash park is amazing! Without a doubt, best Stash park period!Killington Slopestyle with a bit of Boreal flavor.

the new lower night jib park is sicktor!
So finished the complete rebuild of all of our park lines last night. Everything is on point from the Shred park on the Dutchman, the Core park on 49ner, the superpipe, Acceletron jumpline, KidzX and the lower night park. We went a little crazy with the zaugg in the lower night. The top half is a tranny riders dream come true. On the left coming out of the pipe you have a roller tranny wall, turning into a bowl corner, feeding into a wallride that follows into a tranny hip ending as a mini pipe wall. Coming to the right out of the superpipe you are meet with a full zaugg QP that hips into another mini pipe wall. Between the two mini walls we set up the pyramid podium box. The rest you can see int he picture. As we continue to get more snow, look for these trannies to extend the whole length of the lower night park

Park Report 2/21/2009After finally getting some snow we are trying to put new features on the hill as fast as possible. Shred Park on lost dutchman just got a whole new line put in over the last 2 nights, and expect more features to go out everywhere. The acceletron jumpline just got rebuilt and we are working on changing the roller in the line into a transfer gap. Over the next few nights we will be working on the 49'er park adding more jibs and also building the Battle Arena down by the acceletron lift terminal. If you have any suggestions or comments on the park or would like to see a certain feature setup let us know and we will see what we can do. I almost forgot, we have a Boardercross course on dutchman now courtesy of Jay. Check it out.

So when visibility allows we will continue farming snow into the upper 3jumps of the Acceletron line to get the spacing better and adjust the heights to get the flow as good as possible. Our forecaster is also saying the snow will continue through the end of next week so until it stops the superpipe is going to continue to sit collecting snow until the weather allows for the rebuild back to 18ft...we waved good bye to the 22fter yesterday as it was loaded on a truck heading to the tour finals in Killington.
Once all these storms pass we should be well on our way to a full build out of the all mtn park...BX course, bmx jump lines, rail alley, the CORE park on 49ner, mini pipe, new lower night, new Shred park out on Lost Dutchman and of course the Acceletron jumpline.

We appologize for the long time without park reports but we are finally getting back into the swing of things after the grand prix. Eric and Jay just finished building 3 new jumps on the Acceletron jumpline so now we have 6 jumps and soon will have 7 with the fourth jump in the line being changed into a channel gap. We are finally getting snow, so as soon as this storm system moves through we will be setting up all the features we can possibly fit on the hill. The pipe is getting rebuilt back into the 18' pipe and will be open soon.

Park Report 1/20/2009Look for some surprises in the NIGHT park for tomorrow. Hollywood and Cmarble are going to put some old favorites back into play tonight. Looking ahead in the week expect to start seeing jib lines on 49ner in the CORE park. The pipe rebuild is going along really well. Jay and I have finished stacking the new walls. The new zaugg was hooked up today and tomorrow we start cutting. Not only are the decks nearly as tall as chairs on Accelerator at the top of the pipe, the pitch is now well over 17degrees. This monster is going to be all tranny with with almost no flatbottom being built to the new Olympic standard. People are going to be boosting out of this thing. With the build going so smooth it should just be another 2-3 days till we're done.

Park Report 1/17/2009Everything is looking great today with 14 jumps and 27 jibs spread throughout the parks. Only two more days until we start the pipe rebuild for the Grand Prix event. The pipe will be closed mon-fri, give or take a day depending on how things go. We will try to get as many open days for public in the new 22fter before it closes for the event on the 27th. The pipe will also be open for night riding tomorrow sunday 1/18.

Park Report 1/15/2009We finally were able to solve the mystery of the drive computer in the zaugg snowcat. Thanks for everyone's patience while we sorted it out and the pipe was closed. In other pipe news you better get up here and ride these next few days! Weather is going to be perfect, warm and sunny and we have the only superpipe in Tahoe(one of only two on the entire west coast for that matter!). But get on it now because we have two heavy hitter events coming our way the end of this month and into feb. For these events to pipe will be rebuilt to 22ft. The Grand Prix will be delivering the new 22ft cutter to us this weekend and the pipe will be under transformation roughly mon-fri of this coming week. If all goes well we should have the pipe re-open for a few days before the Grand Prix riders take over on the 27th. The pipe will re-open a few days following the GP before the Rev Tour on Feb 4-6.

Park Report 1/6/2009The jumpline re-build we started saturday night is now complete. All of the jumps are now a litttle taller, a little shorter, and more true table like except for #5 is still a step down.

Park Report 1/4/2009The super duper excellent pipe is open and freshly cut by Jay. The Park is looking fantastic and the jumpline is prime. The new rainbow box was completed and installed last night by Henry, Sean, Mike D, and Hollywood. Come out and shred on this beautiful sunny day.

Park Report 12/27/2008We added a new jump last night to the 4 pack under acceletron lift so now we have 5 jumps in the line and we added a few boxes to the run as well. Jay, Eric, Hollywood, and Colby are working hard at night to get lower night park open and the plans for the layout are pretty impressive. The superpipe is a few days away from being completed.

park update: new snow just doesn't stop
With 20' in tonight's forecast and another 8' tomorrow it was time to pull the plug on a full rebuild. All of the existing park out front that we all know and love from opening day is now gone except for one flat box. The Kidz X park is still up on the right side of castle peak for all the little shredders. The Night Park below the soon to be superpipe will be closed for construction with a late Friday opening. The upper jumps will be seeing some cat time with the new snow but they wont open until possibly the weekend as we are going to make more snow for them starting tomorrow AM through sometime Saturday just because you can never have enough snow. Hollywood will put his touch on the 4 pack but don't expect it to be back in prime condition until after the storm blows out this weekend. The superpipe is only a few days away...I'll make an official announcement once I get past the point of no return. Oh the joy of building and maintaining park when you get nearly 7 ft of snow in a little over a weeks time. The long range is calling for some nice extended weather after these last two storms blow through so then it will be game on......In the meantime..GO RIDE POWDER!

the 4 pack
We've gotten a good start on the new Acceletron Jumpline. With more snow in the forecast and continued snowmaking on the upper section it wont be long before we add 2 to 3 more jumps to the line. Our goal is to have a line of 7....5 medium table or slightly step over style followed by a solid step down and finished off by a solid step up. Cat work on the upper jumps will start tomorrow along with work on the superpipe. We want to have the top jumps finished by early in the week before the big storm that is forecasted hits us.

PARK REPORT 12/18/20084 Pack Jumpline under acceletron lift is opened and approved by none other than Boreal's own Henry Ryerson. Eric and Jay finished the jumps this morning and they are looking great. Hollywood added his touch to kids x park with a new boardercross course. With more snow on the way we are looking to have lower night park open really soon. The sun is out, the sky is blue, there are still a few stashes of pow, and there is a jumpline. Nothing else needed to say. Come Ride.

park update
Sorry for the lack of reports form the the world of Boreal's parks, we have been just a little busy these last two days. Here's the most recent update...it snowed a ton and now it is colder than you can imagine. The snow making has been running wide open since Sat morning and this now 5 day long snow making session has been the most productive in Boreals history. As of today we have enough snow for the superpipe, we are about one day away from opening the lower half of the Acceletron Jump line, the upper half should open with the superpipe sometime next week, and the lower night park will open on Friday.Labels: newschoolers, park update

snowmaking report
Today was out first nonstop around the clock snow making of the year. We pulled the portable gear off of Castle Peak and were working on top to bottom including parts of the real lower night park. Should have the top finished tonight and then tomorrow bump the portable gear down to continue in lower night park with with all guns blazing. We'll need a day or two to push out the piles but the top should open Wed or Thurs with the real lower night park by the weekend...E-

evening update!
Snowmaking started at 5pm this afternoon! Looks like tonight could be another good night as the temps are already as cold as they were at the coldest point early this morning. Dave and Colby are pulling some features tonight in anticipation of a lot of snow being made. If all goes well, the upper half of the park could see a pretty descent rebuild by tomorrow morning including the addition of another jump. The temp trend is looking really good but should it go back the other way then those features will just be reset, something that needed to be done anyway since we at least have the new snow from the last two nights. Either way, things will change up before we open tomorrow. I'll post another update in the early AM from the cat as things start to come together.E-

PARK REPORT 12/4/2008Another good night of snowmaking again. We were able bring back the small table top last night as well as modify the dancefloor with a podium box option on the right.

PARK REPORT 12/3/2008SNOWMAKING HAS RETURNED!!!!! The humidity finally bottomed out and we made snow with all guns, top to bottom and even at the Superpipe. Looks like tonight should be another good night with more windows opening into the weekend. Everything got a good freshing up last night and with another good night we should be able to change up the park again.
Here's another excerpt from our forecaster:
"My faith is restored a little, as the light east winds and lower humidities came together and allowed us some snowmaking. I think we'll see similar conditions tonight, but slightly cooler over the upper portion of the mountain, as 700 mb temps drop to +1'C tonight. Another weak system is dropping southward through the eastern side of the Great Basin and should cool the air mass a little more tomorrow and tomorrow night. At this point, ANY cooling is a great thing and with some east winds tomorrow night, should be another opportunity for snowmaking. A little milder over the weekend, then the models begin to diverge next week with how far south to push the jet stream. The good news is that we aren't under a strong, warm high pressure!"

PARK REPORT 12/2/2008Not much news for today. Still the same setup and unfortunately no snow making last night. There is a little hope on the horizon for a change in the weather. Here's a little excerpt from our private forecaster that sheds a little light on our weather fortunes.
"Well, we're making progress, at least the air mass is cooler this morning than we've seen in a couple of days. An area of low pressure is moving across the Pacific Northwest and will slide southeastward through Idaho, Utah and Colorado. The front pushes weakly through us and we see a light east wind tonight. I believe the humidity values remain fairly low, at least low enough for us to get a run at making snow tonight down lower on the mountain. The 700 mb temperatures still remain too warm for us up top. My expectation is that the high pressure, over the next week, shifts off the West Coast and will allow for a cooler air mass over the region and we'll be able to make snow. The models are still all over the place with regards to the details of the change, but they all agree to shift the high west of the coast."

PARK REPORT 12/1/2008The snow is still holding strong and the park is looking good considering this warm weather. We may get a few short snowmaking windows later this week. But if we are not making snow, then at least it will be warm and sunny..perfect early season jibbing weather.

PARK REPORT 11/26/08Snowmaking is looking good for tonight. We are going to start moving things around tonight and with a good shot of snowmaking tomorrow night the park should be totally rebuilt for sat. The only thing that we know for certain is that the dancefloor and tower combo will be pulled apart and reset seperately. Other than that, how we rebuild will be determined after we see what new snow we have to work with. High on the wishlist is to bring back a jump(s) and some of the smaller rails we had up earlier before the last rebuild.
